The countdown is on for one of the most anticipated recruiting announcements in the 2027 class. Five-star defensive lineman David Folorunsho, ranked as the No. 3 defensive lineman in the nation, has set May 15 as his commitment date. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound powerhouse from St. Patrick High School in Chicago will make his decision live on the Rivals YouTube channel, choosing between Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami, Texas Tech, and Michigan.

Folorunsho, who checks in as the No. 37 overall prospect per Rivals, brings a rare blend of size and athleticism to the trenches. His announcement could be a game-changer for whichever program lands him, especially for the Georgia Bulldogs, who have a storied history of developing elite defensive linemen. Since Kirby Smart's first recruiting class in 2016, Georgia has secured eight five-star defensive line or defensive end commits, with at least one five-star in eight of his 10 enrolled classes.

While location might favor Michigan or Notre Dame—both closer to his Chicago home—Rivals' prediction model currently leans toward the Fighting Irish. But don't count out the Bulldogs, who are looking to rebound after a four-star cornerback flipped to UCLA, dropping their class to No. 18 nationally. With five-star running back Kemon Spell and cornerback Donte Wright already in the fold, adding Folorunsho could vault Georgia back into the top 10.

For fans of college football recruiting, May 15 is a date to circle. Whether Folorunsho chooses to stay close to home or head south to join a defensive line tradition like Georgia's, his commitment will send ripples through the 2027 class. Stay tuned for what promises to be a defining moment in this recruiting cycle.
