In a move that's turning heads ahead of the weekend, the Denver Broncos are giving veteran quarterback Nathan Peterman a shot at their rookie minicamp. According to Mike Klis of 9News, the former fifth-round pick will be among the players trying to impress the coaching staff.
Peterman, who was last on an NFL roster in 2024 with the Saints, Raiders, and Falcons, hasn't seen game action since 2023 when he suited up for the Chicago Bears. It's been a winding road for the 30-year-old signal-caller, who was originally drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2017 and spent a season and a half in upstate New York before stints with the Raiders in 2020 and 2021.
Over his career, Peterman has appeared in 15 games with five starts, completing just over 53% of his passes for 712 yards. His touchdown-to-interception ratio—four scores against 13 picks—tells the story of a player who has struggled to find consistency at the NFL level. Still, the Broncos are giving him a chance to prove he's got something left in the tank, and rookie minicamp is the perfect place to make a fresh impression.
