Week 2 of the Michigan Girls High School Flag Football League delivered another round of thrilling action, and Hometown Life sports reporter Brandon Folsom has named the standout MVPs from games across the region. From game-sealing interceptions to all-around offensive explosions, these players left it all on the field. Here’s a closer look at who shined brightest and why.

Skyann Penn, Wayne: The Zebras’ emotional leader came up huge when it mattered most. Penn hauled in two interceptions, including a 16-yard pick-six with just 47 seconds left to seal the win. She also added a tackle for loss and 33 rushing yards, proving that the deeper she gets into a game, the more her team responds.

Bayley Wiseley, Glenn: Wiseley delivered a well-rounded performance, catching two passes for 44 yards and adding 32 rushing yards on two carries, plus two pass breakups. Her 12-yard touchdown on a reverse with 4:55 left tied the score at 12, but Wayne’s offense and defense proved too much down the stretch.

Amiya Handy, Glenn: Despite four Rockets taking snaps at quarterback, Handy got the start and looked sharp in the pocket. She completed 5 of 7 passes for 41 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown to Paityn Smith, and also converted extra points to Aysia Jones and Addison Sayyae.

Emiya Franklin, Thurston: The Eagles’ defense was relentless, forcing five interceptions—two by Franklin. Her standout play came when she picked off a pass in the end zone and sprinted the full 80 yards for a touchdown. Offensively, she added two catches for 45 yards and another score.

Kayleigh Goodman, RU: Even in a tough loss for the Panthers, Goodman stood out. She caught three passes for 31 yards and a touchdown, showing grit and reliability when her team needed it most.

Olivia Willoughby, St. Mary’s: After a tough matchup against state power Belleville earlier in the day, the Eaglets bounced back in a big way against North. Quarterback Reese Holton threw for 383 yards and seven touchdowns, with much of that production fueled by Willoughby’s playmaking. Her ability to stretch the field and create separation was a game-changer.
