MVP Watch Starts Early for One Viking

When it comes to NFL MVP chatter, it's never too early to start dreaming big—especially if you're a Minnesota Vikings fan. Last week, Bleacher Report threw Kyler Murray's name into the ring as a fringe contender for the 2026 MVP award, sparking early buzz around the Vikings' new signal-caller.

Murray, who signed with Minnesota in March after seven seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, is already generating national attention. Bleacher Report's Moe Moton listed the 28-year-old as an honorable mention among seven players who could win the award for the first time. "Despite Kyler Murray's recent struggles on the field and with injuries, he's a talented two-time Pro Bowler who could be one of the league's best in the right situation," Moton wrote. "Still in his prime, the 28-year-old could benefit from a change of scenery."

And what a scenery change it is. Murray will now have the luxury of throwing to two-time All-Pro wideout Justin Jefferson, reliable No. 2 receiver Jordan Addison, and pass-catching tight end T.J. Hockenson. Add in head coach Kevin O'Connell, who has fielded a top-six passing offense in three of the last four years, and the pieces are in place for Murray to flourish. Moton noted that Murray "could flourish with the Vikings' supporting cast on a team that competes for the No. 1 seed in the NFC."

Currently, Murray sits at +7500 odds to win the MVP, nestled between New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart (+7000) and Tennessee Titans rookie Cam Ward (+8,000). It's a longshot, no doubt, but the potential is there.

Realistically, Murray's path to MVP starts with winning. The Vikings limped to a 9-8 record in 2025 after a 4-8 start, missing the playoffs by just one game. To be a serious MVP contender, Murray will need to lead Minnesota to the postseason—and likely secure a top seed in the NFC. The good news? Playoff wins don't factor into MVP voting, so a strong regular season could be enough to put Murray in the conversation.

For now, Vikings fans can dream big—and maybe grab some new gear to match those MVP aspirations.
