Munetaka Murakami hit his majors-leading 13th homer of the season to highlight a six-run second inning, Colson Montgomery added his ninth home run, and the Chicago White Sox beat the San Diego Padres 8-2 on Friday night for their fourth straight victory. Murakami's three-run shot broke a tie with the Aaron Judge and Yordan Alavarez for the MLB lead.

Munetaka Murakami is making history look routine. The Chicago White Sox slugger launched his majors-leading 13th home run of the season on Friday night, a three-run blast that not only broke a tie with Aaron Judge and Yordan Alvarez for the MLB lead but also ignited a six-run second inning that powered the White Sox to an 8-2 victory over the San Diego Padres.

The win was Chicago's fourth straight, and the energy in the dugout was palpable. Colson Montgomery added his ninth homer of the year in the fifth inning, giving the White Sox a commanding 7-0 lead. According to Elias and Sarah Langs, Murakami and Montgomery have now gone deep in the same game seven times this season—the most by any teammate duo in a team's first 35 games in MLB history.

On the mound, left-hander Noah Schultz (2-1) turned in a masterful performance, allowing just two hits over six scoreless innings. He struck out two and walked three, but showed poise under pressure by escaping a bases-loaded jam in the first inning after issuing three free passes. Sam Antonacci contributed with a 2-for-4 night and an RBI to keep the offense humming.

The Padres didn't get their first hit until Fernando Tatis Jr. singled in the third. Tatis later tripled in the sixth—his first of the season—but was stranded at third when White Sox right fielder Austin Hays made a spectacular catch near the foul line, crashing to the ground to end the inning. Tatis finished 3-for-3 and scored one of San Diego's two runs in the eighth on a single by Manny Machado.

Padres starter German Marquez (3-2) struggled, surrendering seven earned runs on five hits over five innings. It was a rare off night for Marquez, who had won his last four starts and saw his team go 4-1 in his previous five outings.

The White Sox will send right-hander Sean Burke (1-2, 3.21 ERA) to the mound on Saturday, facing Padres righty Michael King (3-1, 2.41). With Murakami and Montgomery swinging hot bats, Chicago is looking to keep the momentum rolling.
