Muhammad Mokaev isn't one to stay idle for long. After visa issues forced him out of a high-profile bout on the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano card, the undefeated flyweight has already secured his next challenge.
Mokaev (15-0) was originally scheduled to face former ONE Championship titleholder Adriano Moraes this Saturday at MVP MMA, a star-studded event streaming live on Netflix from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. However, travel complications derailed those plans at the last minute.
Now, the former UFC standout is heading across the Atlantic. On June 6, Mokaev will step into the cage at WOW 31, hosted at Madrid Arena in Spain, to take on Jorge Calvo (20-7) in a bantamweight showdown. The matchup was officially announced Wednesday morning, with ABC MMA first breaking the news.
This fight carries extra weight as it takes place under the WOW FC banner—the same promotion founded by UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria, who has been building a strong European MMA presence. For Mokaev, it's a chance to stay active and continue his winning ways on a major stage.
Since parting ways with the UFC in 2024, Mokaev has been on a tear, going 3-0 and capturing the inaugural Brave CF flyweight title last November. His opponent, Calvo, brings serious momentum of his own, having won eight straight fights before dropping a decision in a Lux Fight League title bout this past February.
With both men hungry to prove themselves, this bantamweight clash promises fireworks. For fight fans and athletes alike, staying ready for the next opportunity is everything—and Mokaev is proving he's always prepared to answer the call.
