The Michigan State Spartans are making a strategic push to flip a talented young offensive lineman from Ohio, who is currently committed to a Big 12 program. Zay'vion Smith, a three-star offensive tackle from Warren, Ohio, has recently received an offer from Michigan State, as reported by Allen Trieu of On3. Smith initially committed to the Cincinnati Bearcats back in early April, but the Spartans are now working to sway his decision.

Smith is rated as a three-star prospect with an 86 composite rating on 247Sports. He currently ranks as the No. 84 offensive tackle nationally and the No. 41 player from Ohio in the 2027 recruiting class. This young lineman has been gaining significant attention, with Michigan State joining a growing list of schools that have recently extended offers, including Pitt and Arizona.

According to 247Sports, Smith now boasts nearly 20 offers from a diverse range of programs. Alongside Cincinnati, his list includes Iowa State, Marshall, Akron, Army, Eastern Michigan, Middle Tennessee State, Navy, UConn, and Ohio. This flurry of interest came after a standout performance at his school's showcase, which has clearly put him on the radar of several Power Four programs.

For Michigan State, landing a player like Smith would be a strong addition to their offensive line depth. As the Spartans continue to build for the future, flipping a Big 12 commit from Ohio—a state known for producing tough, physical linemen—could be a key move. Stay tuned as this recruitment battle heats up.
