The Spartans top tight end the past two seasons is getting a chance to continue his career in the NFL.
Michigan State football tight end Jack Velling has reportedly signed with the Atlanta Falcons. He was an undrafted free agent signing with the Falcons following the 2026 NFL Draft on Saturday evening.
Velling played a pair of seasons for the Spartans after transferring from Oregon State ahead of the 2024 campaign. He appeared in 24 games for the Spartans, recording 72 receptions for 770 yards and four touchdowns during his time in the green-and-white. Prior to coming to Michigan State, Velling appeared in 23 games with the Beavers, recording 45 receptions for 719 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Velling came to Michigan State with high expectations, following previous head coach Jonathan Smith and starting quarterback Aidan Chiles from Oregon State. As we know now, things didn't necessarily work out during the Smith era but Velling at least has played well enough to earn a shot in the NFL as the next step in his football career.
