Michigan State football is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to land a top-tier offensive line prospect, and this week, the Spartans made a bold statement by sending two key coaches to Ohio.

Offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan and offensive line coach Nick Tabacca traveled to New Madison, Ohio, to meet with four-star offensive tackle Dominic Black. The visit, which Black shared on social media, underscores just how high the Spartans are prioritizing this recruitment.

Black, a standout from the 2027 class, recently narrowed his list to eight schools, with Michigan State making the cut. He's also considering Kentucky, Indiana, North Carolina, West Virginia, NC State, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech. But the Spartans are clearly making a strong push to stand out in this crowded field.

Ranked as the No. 18 offensive tackle nationally and the No. 5 prospect in Ohio, Black carries a 247Sports composite rating of 92.72. He's also the No. 125 overall recruit in the 2027 class—a player who could anchor an offensive line for years to come.

Despite the competition, Michigan State faces an uphill battle. Indiana, Kentucky, and Virginia Tech are currently considered frontrunners, with all three already securing official visits for May and June. But the Spartans aren't backing down. Sheridan and Tabacca's in-person visit shows they're willing to go the extra mile to flip the script and get Black on campus for his own official visit.

For a program looking to build a foundation in the trenches, landing a player of Black's caliber would be a game-changer. And with the coaching staff putting in the work, the Spartans are proving they're in it to win it.
