Missouri Southern State University is celebrating a banner day in softball, as the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) unveiled its postseason honors Tuesday evening. The Lions swept major awards and stacked the all-conference teams, proving they're a force to be reckoned with in the circle and beyond.

At the heart of the celebration is Kiki Pickens, who repeated as MIAA Pitcher of the Year. The junior right-hander posted a stellar 1.85 ERA and a microscopic 0.97 WHIP—meaning she allowed fewer than one baserunner per inning for the second straight season. Over 132 1/3 innings, she surrendered just 90 hits and 39 walks, dominating opposing lineups with precision and poise.

Joining her in the award spotlight is freshman sensation Emily Davis, named MIAA Freshman of the Year. Davis was equally stingy in the circle, finishing with a 1.78 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP across 145 1/3 innings. She allowed 103 hits and 42 walks, consistently shutting down conference hitters. This marks consecutive seasons where the Lions have claimed both Pitcher and Freshman of the Year honors—last year, Pickens shared the spotlight with then-freshman Bailey Dillon.

The coaching staff, led by head coach Hallie Blackney alongside pitching coach Lexi Kinnaird and graduate assistant Caitlyn Wells, was named MIAA Coaching Staff of the Year. This is the first time the award has been given to the entire staff under the conference's new format for 2024; Blackney previously earned individual Coach of the Year honors in 2021.

The all-conference recognition didn't stop there. Dillon, now a left fielder, earned first-team all-conference honors, showcasing her versatility after last year's freshman award. Joining her on the first team were Davis, Pickens, and infielder Katie Gray, giving the Lions a powerful core of talent.

Shortstop Taylor Nuckolls secured second-team honors, while third baseman Carsen Tinkler landed on the third team. Defensively, Davis and Nuckolls were also recognized as Gold Glove recipients for their outstanding work in the field. Maddie Rolfs rounded out the Lions' honors with an honorable mention nod.

For a program that's building momentum year after year, these awards are a testament to the depth, grit, and skill that define Missouri Southern softball—on the mound, at the plate, and in the field.
