The MPSSAA has officially released the state playoff brackets for baseball and softball, setting the stage for an exciting postseason run for Bayside South teams. With championship dreams on the line, local squads now know exactly what it will take to bring home a state title.

Last year was a banner season for the Bayside South, with three teams reaching the state championship games. Mardela captured the 1A softball crown, while Decatur softball and Parkside baseball both finished as runners-up. This year, the question on everyone's mind is: which team will step up and make its own memorable playoff push?

In the Class 3A East II region, two Bayside South teams could collide in a thrilling showdown. Stephen Decatur, riding the momentum of an undefeated regular season, enters as the No. 1 seed. They've earned a bye in the regional quarterfinals and will host the semifinals on Saturday, May 9. Meanwhile, James M. Bennett is the No. 4 seed and will host South River on May 7. If Bennett wins, they'll head to Berlin for a high-stakes matchup against Decatur—a potential instant classic.

Over in Class 2A East II, last year's state runner-up, Parkside, is the No. 1 seed and also enjoys a first-round bye. They'll host the winner of the Queen Anne's vs. Easton game on May 9. Wi-Hi, seeded sixth, faces a tough road test against North Caroline on May 7.

In the 1A East II bracket, Mardela is the top seed and will rest up with a first-round bye before hosting the regional semifinals. Washington, seeded fifth, travels to face Cambridge-South Dorchester, with the winner moving on to take on Mardela. Snow Hill, the No. 2 seed, also has a bye and will host the semifinals. Crisfield (No. 3) and Pocomoke (No. 6) will square off in the quarterfinals, with Crisfield hosting that matchup.

With the brackets set, the path to glory is clear. Whether you're cheering from the stands or gearing up for your own game, now is the time to show your team pride and get ready for some unforgettable postseason action.
