Detroit is getting its very own TGL franchise, and Motor City Golf Club just dropped its official logo and brand identity—and it's a beauty. The team, set to debut in 2027 as the league's first expansion squad, unveiled its new look on April 30, and it's already turning heads.
The logo is a sleek nod to Detroit's automotive heritage: a dark blue and white color scheme featuring a checkered-flag pattern inside a bold circle. The words "Motor City Golf Club" and "Detroit" wrap around the edge, making it clear where this team calls home. It's a design that screams speed, precision, and the mechanical excellence that's been part of the city's DNA for generations.
Motor City Golf Club is owned by Middle West Partners, a private investment group that includes Sheila Hamp, the primary owner of the Detroit Lions. Team governor Michael Hamp couldn't hide his excitement, saying, "We wanted the brand to feel like its home city while honoring Detroit's pride, culture of design, and innovation. We aimed to establish an identity that stands proudly alongside Detroit's celebrated sports logos—and we feel the MCGC logo represents the history of our city and sits uniquely among the other teams in the TGL landscape."
For context, TGL—founded by golf legends Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods, along with media exec Mike McCarley—just wrapped up its inaugural season in January 2026 with six teams: Atlanta Drive, Boston Common Golf, Jupiter Links, Los Angeles Golf Club, New York Golf Club, and The Bay Golf Club. All matches take place at the state-of-the-art SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a $50 million facility that mimics a full-size golf course indoors with high-definition video screens and an adjustable putting surface. It seats 1,500 fans, creating an electric atmosphere for every match.
With Motor City Golf Club joining the fray, TGL is expanding its footprint and bringing a fresh, high-octane energy to the league. Detroit's rich sports tradition just got a new chapter, and we can't wait to see what this team brings to the course.
