Ryan Garcia admits to refusing to pay lost bet to Arman Tsarukyan, offers a fight instead

The world of combat sports is heating up with a fiery feud that started with a bet and has escalated into a full-blown fight offer. UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan and boxing superstar Ryan Garcia are locked in a public spat over a $40,000 wager gone wrong, proving that high-stakes drama isn't confined to the ring or the octagon.

It all began earlier this month during a live stream on Garcia's Kick channel. In a moment of bravado, Tsarukyan bet Garcia a hefty sum that the boxer couldn't drop one of his teammates with a single body shot. Garcia accepted the challenge but ultimately failed, opting to spar instead after a few attempts. What seemed like a friendly wager between athletes has since turned sour.

Tsarukyan recently revealed that Garcia has yet to pay up. "He hasn’t paid up," Tsarukyan stated, explaining that despite promises to transfer the money, five days had passed with no payment and not even a request for his banking details. The UFC fighter even suggested he and fellow contender Khamzat Chimaev might pay Garcia a visit to settle the debt.

True to his outspoken nature, Ryan Garcia fired back on social media. In a series of since-deleted posts, the boxer outright refused to pay the $40,000. Instead, he proposed a different kind of settlement: a fight. Garcia challenged Tsarukyan or anyone from his team to a bout, upping the ante to $100,000 for anyone who could beat him, and specifically offering Tsarukyan the money if he could survive eight rounds in a boxing match.

Garcia's admission that he wouldn't honor the bet drew criticism online, prompting him to defend his position. He argued that he felt scammed by the terms of the original challenge and took a shot at MMA fighters' boxing skills in the process, stating, "There’s a reason MMA fighters can’t box, because it’s HARD to just use your hands."

This clash highlights the intense competitive spirit that defines elite athletes, whether they're wearing boxing gloves or MMA shorts. It's a reminder that the drive to compete and prove oneself is universal across combat sports, often leading to unexpected and headline-grabbing confrontations outside of sanctioned events.
