Wales and British and Irish Lions star Jac Morgan is bracing for an emotional farewell as he prepares to play his final home game for the Ospreys this Saturday. The 26-year-old back-rower, who will join Gloucester at the end of the season, admits he's "pretty nervous" about the occasion.
Morgan and Wales co-captain Dewi Lake announced their departure in December, with both players set to move to the English Premiership side for the 2026/27 season. Their decision came amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding Welsh rugby, including the WRU's plans to reduce the number of regional teams from four to three.
Saturday's United Rugby Championship clash against the Scarlets at the Brewery Field carries extra significance—it's not only Morgan's last home appearance but also the Ospreys' final game at the venue before they relocate to St Helens next season.
"I'm pretty nervous for it, to be honest with you," Morgan said. "I've loved my time here with the Ospreys, and the support from all the supporters and everyone has been brilliant over the last few years. It's probably going to be a little bit emotional afterwards."
The flanker's rugby journey has been remarkable. He came through the Scarlets academy, making his senior debut in 2019 before crossing to rivals Ospreys two years later. Since then, he's earned 24 Wales caps—his first coming in a victory over Scotland in 2022—and represented the British and Irish Lions in Australia last summer, playing in two Tests.
Reflecting on his time at the region, Morgan says it's something he will "cherish forever." He added: "I came here when I was only 21. Being able to play here and come through here—especially with the players who were here when I first joined, learning from them and the coaches, even the backroom staff who've helped along the way—has been brilliant. I've just got a lot of people to thank. The biggest thing is the friends and everything I've got with the teammates and everyone involved with the club."
