Mookie Betts is set to return after missing more than a month because of a right oblique strain when the Los Angeles Dodgers open a four-game series against the San Francisco Giants on Monday. Betts hasn’t played since April 4, when he was hurt in a 10-5 win at the Washington Nationals. Manager Dave Roberts said he would have Betts hit second or third in the batting order though he was batting .179 with two home runs and seven RBIs in eight games before the injury.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are getting a major boost as star infielder Mookie Betts is set to return from the injured list on Monday, just in time for a pivotal four-game series against the San Francisco Giants.

Betts has been sidelined since April 4 after suffering a right oblique strain during a 10-5 victory over the Washington Nationals—a span of more than a month. Before the injury, the four-time World Series champion and 2018 American League MVP was off to a slow start, hitting just .179 with two home runs and seven RBIs across eight games.

Manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Betts will slot into the heart of the order, likely hitting second or third, as the Dodgers look to ignite their offense. "He's ready to go," Roberts said, noting that Betts completed a two-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday, going 2-for-5 with a walk.

During Betts' absence, the Dodgers have relied on a platoon of Hyeseong Kim, Alex Freeland, and Santiago Espinal to cover the middle infield—and they've held their own. But Roberts acknowledged that finding a roster spot for Betts will mean a tough conversation with one of those players. "It's a good problem in a sense of where we're at, but it's a potential tough conversation," he said Sunday.

For Dodgers fans, Betts' return couldn't come at a better time. The Giants series kicks off a crucial stretch, and having a proven winner back in the lineup—especially one with Betts' postseason pedigree—adds a spark that no platoon can replicate. Whether he picks up where he left off or shakes off the rust quickly, all eyes will be on the star as he makes his long-awaited comeback.
