Monday's high school baseball action delivered some standout performances across New Hampshire, with Exeter's Ethan Battles leading the charge in a dominant pitching display.
Exeter 2, Merrimack 0
Senior right-hander Ethan Battles was virtually untouchable on Monday, striking out 13 batters and scattering just three hits in a complete-game shutout. The victory improved Battles to a perfect 4-0 on the season, as Exeter climbed to 8-2 overall. All the offense Exeter needed came in the first inning, when John Bakker delivered a two-run double that scored Brennan Schimoler and Battles himself. Schimoler led the Blue Hawks with two of the team's four hits, while Andrew Martin added the other.
Bishop Guertin 10, Portsmouth 0
Portsmouth couldn't keep pace as Bishop Guertin erupted for eight runs in the sixth inning to break open a tight 2-0 game. Hugh Herter led the Clippers (1-8) with two hits, while Zavier Lampert and Liam Belden each contributed one.
Dover 7, Timberlane 0
Tyler Tiedge was in command on the mound, allowing just four hits and striking out six over six scoreless innings as Dover (8-2) rolled to a Division I win. Logan Mosher paced the offense with three hits, an RBI, and two runs scored. Daniel Conrad drove in three runs, Sam MacGregor launched a solo home run, and Bjorn Miller added two hits and three runs. Ben Cheek, Connor Sprague, and Owen Lovering also contributed to the offensive outburst.
Winnacunnet 7, Salem 2
Ethan Roy and Sean Griffin each collected two hits and two RBIs to power Winnacunnet (7-2). Harvey Reynoso and Braeden O'Hara also had two hits apiece, while Bryce Pinsonnault, Ryan Giuffre, Oscar Fritz, and Brantson Larck chipped in. Fritz earned the win on the mound, allowing two earned runs on five hits over five innings with six strikeouts. Sophomore Cal Lauder slammed the door with two scoreless innings of relief.
Bedford 9, Spaulding 1
Ty Lindsay, Carter Marcotte, and Garrett Truax each collected a hit for Spaulding (6-3) in the Division I loss. Carter Hanson provided a bright spot with three scoreless innings of relief.
Oyster River 6, Kingswood 3
Casey Faul and Derek Brower combined to lead Oyster River to a Division II victory. Faul earned the win, allowing three runs over four innings, while Brower shut the door with three scoreless innings of relief. The game also featured a pair of milestone moments: James Saunders and Nolan Swiesz both crushed their first career home runs.
