AS Monaco have reportedly decided to activate the purchase option in Ansu Fati's loan deal, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The 23-year-old Spanish winger, who joined from FC Barcelona last summer, is set to make his move permanent for a fee of €11 million.
After a challenging stint at Brighton & Hove Albion, Fati has rediscovered his spark on the French Riviera under manager Sébastien Pocognoli. Once hailed as the heir to Barcelona's attacking throne, the Bissau-born talent saw his promising career derailed by a series of injury setbacks in his early professional years. Those struggles, however, now appear largely behind him.
Fati has been a revelation in Ligue 1 this season, tallying 11 goals across all competitions in 28 appearances (1,199 minutes)—with 10 of those strikes coming in the league. That works out to a decisive contribution every 104 minutes, a rate that has caught the eye of Monaco's hierarchy.
While Barcelona will lose one of their former crown jewels, they've negotiated a sell-on clause, ensuring they'll benefit from any future transfer. For Fati, this permanent move represents a fresh start and a chance to build on the form that once made him one of Europe's most exciting young prospects.
