The deal is almost done.

In a move that's been brewing for months, AS Monaco have made their final decision on Barcelona loanee Ansu Fati's future—and it's a done deal. The Ligue 1 side has agreed to trigger the €11 million purchase option in his loan agreement, making the transfer permanent.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the deal is now in its "final stages," with Monaco fully committed to keeping the 23-year-old winger. French outlet L'Equipe has also confirmed that the club is confident about securing Fati's services beyond this season. Barcelona, meanwhile, will retain a sell-on clause as part of the agreement—a smart move for a player they nurtured from their famed La Masia academy.

Fati has found his stride in France, notching 11 goals across all competitions in 28 appearances for Monaco this season. That form has clearly convinced the club to invest in his future, especially after his father recently shared that the family wants him to stay. "We still don't know, because he has a contract until 2028, that's for sure," Fati's dad told reporters. "We don't know, but we want him to stay at Monaco, because he is happy there."

For Barcelona, this marks the beginning of a summer exodus. Fati will be the first player to depart the Camp Nou, with midfielder Marc Casado also expected to move on in search of more regular playing time. The Catalan giants are clearly reshaping their squad, and Fati's permanent exit frees up both wages and a roster spot for new additions.

From a sporting perspective, this is a win-win. Monaco gets a proven goalscorer who's already settled into their system, while Barcelona recoups a solid fee for a player who struggled to recapture his pre-injury form at the Camp Nou. For Fati, it's a fresh start at a club where he's clearly thriving—and at 23, his best years may still be ahead of him.
