Molly Pike has announced her retirement from professional football, closing the chapter on a career that saw her shine at every level—from youth international honors to top-flight football in the Barclays Women's Super League.
The midfielder joined Newcastle United last summer from Southampton and made an immediate impact, racking up 23 appearances across all competitions and finding the net three times. Her journey to St. James' Park was paved with experience at some of the biggest clubs in the women's game, including Everton, Bristol City, and Leicester City, where she made a combined 67 appearances in the top flight.
Pike's talent was recognized early on, earning her call-ups to England's youth setup from the under-17s all the way through to the under-23s. She even captained the under-19s side, a testament to her leadership and skill on the pitch.
In a heartfelt statement, Pike explained her decision: "I'm incredibly proud to have represented Newcastle United, and this isn't a decision I have taken lightly. Choosing to step away from football isn't a reflection of my time at the club—it's an entirely personal decision I have made in order to prioritize my own wellbeing."
