Edoardo Molinari is back for more Ryder Cup glory. The Italian strategist will reprise his crucial role as a vice-captain for Team Europe when they defend the trophy at the 2027 matches at Adare Manor in Ireland.
This will mark Molinari's third consecutive campaign under Captain Luke Donald, having been an integral part of the winning teams in Rome (2023) and New York (2025). His analytical mind and statistical support have become a cornerstone of Europe's recent success, providing the team with key strategic insights.
"It was a very easy decision," Molinari said of Donald's invitation. "Any time you can get involved in the Ryder Cup, in any role, it's a great thing." He also highlighted the unique atmosphere awaiting in Ireland, noting, "It's going to be incredible to play in front of the Irish crowd. They're always very passionate, very loud, and very respectful."
For Captain Luke Donald, retaining Molinari is a major first step in assembling his backroom team. Donald himself is making history, set to become the first European captain since Bernard Gallacher (1991-1995) to lead the team three times in a row. His mission is monumental: to become the first captain ever to win three consecutive Ryder Cups.
The challenge is steep, as the American team will be desperate to break a long drought, having not won on European soil since 1993. Donald, however, has a trusted lieutenant in Molinari. "Edoardo has been a rock of support to me," Donald stated. "He is invaluable from a statistical analysis standpoint and has made such a difference to our team."
With this key piece back in place, Europe's preparations for the 2027 showdown in the passionate heart of Irish golf are officially underway.
