When Mohamed Salah had to be substituted off after an hour in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday with an apparent hamstring injury, there were concerns it could end up being his final time on the pitch as a Liverpool player.
Certainly his rather glum look and that he headed straight down the tunnel didn’t bode well, and following news this spring that he would depart the club at the end of the season after nine years in Red, it seemed a real blow to one of the club’s all time legends.
However, there’s good news on the Salah injury front today. The hamstring injury has been confirmed, but the club have taken the unusual step of publicly announcing that following tests this week it has been judged to be a very minor one.
As such, Salah is expected to be fit to play again before the end of the 2025-26 season—and hopefully with it get a better goodbye in front of the Anfield crowd than the one it seemed he might be fated for when he left the pitch in discomfort on Saturday afternoon.
Liverpool have four games left to play this season, starting with a trip to Manchester United on Sunday for which Salah won’t expect to be available. They then play Chelsea at home, Aston Villa on the road, and close out against Brentford at Anfield.
