The Dallas Cowboys' secondary could be in for a major boost. With the Indianapolis Colts reportedly placing veteran nickel cornerback Kenny Moore II on the trade market, the Cowboys have emerged as a prime potential landing spot, according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer.

This connection makes strategic sense for Dallas. After losing Jourdan Lewis in free agency last year—a move owner Jerry Jones has publicly regretted—the Cowboys have a clear need to fortify the slot cornerback position. In today's pass-happy NFL, a reliable nickel defender is more crucial than ever, and Moore represents a proven solution.

The 29-year-old is coming off a solid 2023 campaign with the Colts, recording 55 tackles, six passes defended, one interception, and two forced fumbles. His performance earned him a 66.7 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, ranking him 39th among 114 eligible cornerbacks. His experience and skill set would be a perfect fit for new defensive coordinator Christian Parker's scheme.

Moore's journey to this point is a testament to resilience. An undrafted free agent out of Division II Valdosta State, he was initially signed by the New England Patriots in 2017 only to be released on final cutdown day. The experience was so demoralizing he nearly quit football. "I lost all of my joy and passion. I didn't even want to play football," Moore recalled in an interview.

Fortunately, the Colts claimed him off waivers the next day. Over the next seven seasons in Indianapolis, Moore transformed himself into one of the league's most respected and consistent slot cornerbacks, making the Pro Bowl in 2021. Now, with the Colts looking to move on, his next chapter could very well be written in Dallas, providing the Cowboys' defense with a seasoned and motivated playmaker.
