The 2026 MLB season is through five weeks. Following suit with previous seasons, this is the common point in the schedule where players break out of early-season slumps. Of course, certain players are continuing their outstanding production. This is what makes baseball the greatest sport in the world. Entering week six, here are the top 10 second basemen rankings.

Entering the week, Hoerner has come up in the clutch for Chicago. He’s been on a tear following the six-year extension he signed at the end of March. The Cubs’ second baseman is in the top four, among MLB second basemen, in batting average, OBP, and slugging percentage.

Lowe has cooled off, but enters the week with the most home runs among MLB second basemen. He’s healthy, and this bodes well for Pittsburgh. The Pirates are off to a great start to the season and can stay in playoff contention with a healthy Brandon Lowe.

Turang is carrying over the momentum from last season’s production. He is once again doing it with power and his legs. Entering the week, he leads the Brewers in RBI and stolen bases.

Edwards is producing like an All-Star. He’s been consistent since the first game of the season. Entering the week, he leads Miami in hits, batting average, and OBP.

Jeremiah Jackson has been the main beneficiary of Jackson Holliday’s absence to start the season. The second-year player has made the most of the opportunity and tied his career high home run total. When Holliday returns, Baltimore will find a way to keep Jackson’s bat in the lineup.

After struggling with injuries in recent years, Albies seems to be over the hump. He’s off to one of the best starts of his career. The Atlanta second baseman is off to one of the best starts in his nine seasons.

Hitting atop Houston’s lineup for most of his career, Jose Altuve continues to produce. His batting average has dipped over the past few seasons, but he continues to get on base. Jose Altuve can reach 3,000 career hits in the next three seasons.

A platoon player for most of his career, Ernie Clement never played over 69 games prior to 2024. He entered 2026 with back-to-back seasons averaging 148 games played. He’s earned the right to be Toronto’s starting second baseman. The slightest regression won’t prevent Clement from having the best season of his career in 2026.

Arraez is starting the way he always does. He doesn’t hit for any power, but shoots balls into the gaps and gets on base. If San Francisco can find more offensive production, Arraez can reach 90 runs scored for the first time in his career.

Peraza is on pace to play in the most games of his career. He won the Angels’ second base job and is producing. He’s reached 100 games played once, and fatigue can hit as the season gets into the later months.
