The 2026 MLB season is through five weeks. Following suit with previous seasons, this is the common point in the schedule where players break out of early-season slumps. Of course, certain players are continuing their outstanding production. This is what makes baseball the greatest sport in the world. Entering week six, here are the top 10 first base rankings.

Rice has continued to produce. Entering the week, he leads all MLB first basemen in OPS. He’s been the Yankees’ best hitter, not named Aaron Judge.
Stewart is having a fantastic rookie season. Entering the week, he leads MLB rookies in RBI. The rookie leads Cincinnati in batting average, OBP, and RBI.
A veteran for most of his career, Ildemaro Vargas, is taking advantage of every day at-bats with Arizona. Entering the week, he has set a career best in home runs. The production may not last for the entirety of the season, but it’s been a great story through the first month of the season.
Murakami has proved he was an overlooked international free agent. The White Sox are getting a steal given his outstanding production. Entering the week, Murakami leads MLB first basemen in home runs and is coming off a stretch of home runs in five consecutive games.
Olson is having a great start to the 2026 season. His hot start puts him ahead of his previous two seasons. Continued production can align him with his 2023 season, where he produced 54 home runs and 139 RBI.
Guerrero Jr. isn’t leaving the yard at a high frequency, but the veteran first baseman is having his way against opposing pitchers. Entering the week, he’s top two in hits and OBP among MLB first basemen.
There isn’t another hitter as consistent as Freddie Freeman. He’s done it throughout his career, and 2026 isn’t different. He’s getting on base and producing for a Dodgers team chasing a third consecutive World Series.
Walker has been having his best start in recent years. He’s rebounded well following his mediocre first season with Houston. If he can stay consistent, he has the chance to finish the season as a top 10 first baseman.
Harper’s heating up, and Philadelphia badly needs production. The Phillies are underperforming and entered the season with great odds to represent the National League in the World Series. Harper has been the veteran leading the team through early-season struggles.
Kurtz, last season’s AL Rookie of the Year, struggled through the first weeks of the season. However, he’s come alive in April. His production has the Athletics in early contention in the AL West.
