Missouri women’s basketball’s offseason may be complete after the addition of Arizona transfer Tanyuel Welch.

The Missouri women's basketball roster is starting to take shape, and the latest addition might be the final piece of the puzzle. Head coach Robin Pingeton's squad picked up a key commitment from Arizona transfer guard Tanyuel Welch, who announced her decision Friday night on Instagram. This brings the Tigers' total transfer portal haul to three players this offseason, and head coach Robin Harper hinted on X that the team has now "completed our roster."

With Welch on board, Missouri currently has 13 players locked in for the 2026-27 season. That includes five returning players, five incoming high school recruits, and three transfer portal commitments. There's still room to add two more players if needed, since the NCAA allows a 15-player roster limit, but it looks like the core is set.

Welch brings valuable high-major experience to Columbia. She joins Michigan shooting guard McKenzie Mathurin and Indiana transfer point guard Nevaeh Caffey, meaning all three of the Tigers' new additions have played at the Power Five level. That's a strong foundation for a team looking to climb the SEC standings.

Last season at Arizona, the 5-foot-10 Indianapolis native averaged 8.7 points and a team-high 5.2 rebounds per game while playing 26.2 minutes per contest. She moved into a starting role early in Big 12 play and showed her versatility with 1.2 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.5 turnovers per game. Before her time in Tucson, Welch spent three seasons at Memphis, where she really shined. In her redshirt sophomore year—after recovering from a knee injury that sidelined her for the entire 2023-24 season—she averaged 10.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists while splitting time at both guard spots. She also shot an impressive 45.3% from three-point range on more than two attempts per game that year.

Welch's ability to score, rebound, and defend makes her a perfect fit for Missouri's system. Whether she's starting or coming off the bench, her high-major experience and versatility should give the Tigers a boost on both ends of the floor. With the roster nearly complete, all eyes will be on how these new pieces mesh when the season tips off.
