The Kansas City Royals hoped a homegrown battery would provide a spark Sunday, but a delayed and dampened celebration at Kauffman Stadium ended with the Chicago White Sox snapping out of an offensive slump to secure a rare 6-5 victory in Missouri.

In a historic nod to the franchise's past, the Royals started pitcher Noah Cameron and catcher Carter Jensen, marking the first time two Missouri natives formed a battery at The K since 1979. However, after a three-hour rain delay, the White Sox quickly ended their 21.2-inning scoreless streak. Rookie Tanner Murray launched a two-run homer in the second inning for his first career blast, setting the tone for a Chicago breakout.

Cameron, the AL Rookie of the Year runner-up last season, labored through 5.1 innings, surrendering five runs on six hits. The White Sox, who had been 0-for-30 with runners in scoring position in their previous five games, finally found their timing, adding a home run from top prospect Colson Montgomery. The game was ultimately decided in the ninth when a wild pitch by Royals reliever John Schreiber allowed Dustin Harris to score the winning run.

While Carter Jensen contributed offensively with a 2-for-4 day and an RBI, the Royals' unique storyline couldn't overcome a resurgent White Sox lineup. The win prevented Kansas City from securing an eighth consecutive series win against their AL Central rivals, forcing a split of the four-game set. For a White Sox team that had scored three or fewer runs in seven straight games, the offensive awakening at Kauffman Stadium was a welcome, if unexpected, development.
