Thursday’s minor league action

Thursday's minor league action delivered a mix of standout performances and tough outings, with several prospects making headlines across the affiliates.

In Hickory, starter Aidan Deakins turned in a solid outing, allowing just two runs over 5.2 innings while striking out five. Reliever Louis Marinaro backed him up with 2.1 scoreless frames, fanning two. At the plate, Yolfran Castillo shined, going 2-for-5 with a home run and a stolen base. Dewar Tovar added a 2-for-4 day, while Hector Osorio also went deep. Paulino Santana chipped in with a hit.

Over in Hub City, starter J'Briell Easley struggled, surrendering four runs—including two home runs—over three innings, with three strikeouts and two walks. However, Brock Porter provided a bright spot, tossing four shutout innings while striking out four and walking three.

The lineup delivered a barrage of offense: Malcolm Moore doubled twice and drew a walk; Maxton Martin went 3-for-6 with a free pass; Rafe Perich collected two hits and a walk; Paxton Kling homered and walked twice; Gleider Figuereo drew a pair of walks; Yeison Morrobel racked up three hits and a walk; and Chandler Pollard starred with a 4-for-5 day that included a double.

In Frisco, 2024 11th-round pick Dalton Pence earned a promotion and made his RoughRiders debut, striking out three, walking two, and allowing two runs in his first start. Bryan Magdaleno contributed two innings of relief, allowing one run while striking out two.

At Round Rock, Jose Corniell turned in a solid start, striking out four over five innings while allowing two runs. But the bullpen endured rough patches: Michel Otanez faced five batters, walking four, surrendering a hit, uncorking a wild pitch, and allowing four runs. Ryan Brasier was sharp, striking out two in a scoreless inning. Dane Acker struggled mightily, allowing six runs in just 0.2 innings. Emiliano Teodo was efficient, needing only 10 pitches (nine strikes) to retire four batters, including one strikeout.
