The weekend on the farm.

The Minor League weekend was nothing short of spectacular, with standout performances from top prospects that have fans buzzing. Let's break down all the action from the farm system.

The biggest story this week was the trade of catcher Patrick Bailey, which brought two major assets to the organization: the No. 29 pick in July's draft and left-handed pitcher Matt "Tugboat" Wilkinson. And Tugboat isn't just a great nickname—he's a legitimate pitching talent. The 23-year-old, drafted in the 10th round out of Central Arizona College in 2023, has been dominating the Eastern League with a 1.59 ERA and 2.58 FIP over six starts. With 36 strikeouts against just nine walks in 28.1 innings, his combination of a low-to-mid 90s fastball, deception, and command makes him an exciting addition to the system.

Joining Wilkinson in Richmond is right-handed pitcher Ben Peterson, who earned a promotion from High-A Eugene. Meanwhile, Richmond righty Logan Martin was placed on the Injured List. In roster moves, the Giants released right-hander Cameron Pferrer and lefty Dylan Carmouche.

But the weekend belonged to two stars who earned league honors. Richmond left-hander Joe Whitman (No. 26 on the Community Prospect List) was named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week, while High-A Eugene shortstop Gavin Kilen (No. 7 CPL) took home Player of the Week honors in the Northwest League. Both are showing why they're among the most exciting prospects in the system.

At Triple-A Sacramento, the River Cats split a three-game series with Reno, dropping the first two before rallying for a 9-7 win on Sunday. With top prospects Bryce Eldridge (No. 1 CPL) and Jesús Rodríguez (No. 16 CPL) now in the majors, the most notable names on the roster are rehabbing big leaguers. A trio of Major League players are getting back up to speed with Sacramento, and all showed positive signs over the weekend, including catcher Daniel Susac (No. 20 CPL).

From dominant pitching to clutch hitting, the Giants' farm system continues to produce the kind of talent that makes this an exciting time for the organization. Whether you're following the box scores or planning your next trip to the ballpark, these are the names to watch.
