Minor League Recap: Rake County Back At It Again

Minor league baseball is buzzing, and the Rake County Captains are living up to their name in a big way. Leading the charge, Luke Hill had a monster day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two home runs—proving why he's one of the most exciting bats in the system. Nolan Schubart showed patience and power, drawing three walks and launching a grand slam. Meanwhile, Aaron Walton continues to turn heads as arguably the fastest-rising position player prospect, homering again to boost his season line to .319 with a 1.027 OPS. It's time for a promotion to Akron. Jace Laviolette chipped in with a double and a walk, and Dean Curley added an RBI single, making this a night to remember for the Captains.

Over in the big league affiliate action, Kahlil Watson keeps raking, going 2-for-5 with a two-run double, raising his average to .276 and his OPS to an impressive .931. Juan Brito followed suit with a 2-for-5 performance featuring an RBI triple, now hitting .281 with a .903 OPS in Triple-A. Stuart Fairchild reached base three times with a 2-for-4 day and a walk, while Kody Huff continues his stellar season, going 2-for-3 with a walk to push his average to .318 and his OPS to .980.

On the mound, Rorik Maltrud turned in a solid outing, allowing three runs over five innings while striking out seven and walking just one. His season ERA sits at a tidy 2.50. Daniel Espino struggled with command, issuing two walks in just two-thirds of an inning. Trent Denholm earned the win with 3.1 scoreless innings of relief, fanning five batters.

We're calling this the Juan Benjamin game. Benjamin went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, driving in three of the RubberDucks' five runs. Alfonsin Rosario added a double, and Alex Mooney contributed an RBI single.

It's been a tough season for Dylan Delucia, but this start showed some progress. He allowed four runs on seven hits over four innings, though his ERA remains elevated at 8.14. The bullpen trio of Adam Tulloch, Reid Johnston, and Jay Driver combined for five scoreless innings, striking out five and walking just two.

Rafe Schlesinger continues to struggle, allowing three more runs in 3.1 innings to push his ERA to 5.33. However, the bright spot was Cam Schuelke, who tossed two scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts and one walk, lowering his ERA to a microscopic 0.55.

Dauri Fernandez rounded out the action with a 2-for-4 day that included an RBI double, adding to the depth of a system that's producing stars at every level.
