Get ready, Vikings fans—schedule release day is finally here! While some might joke about needing a "fart noise machine" to get through the announcements, this is your chance to map out the season ahead. Sure, early predictors might already know who the Vikings are facing, but the real excitement is in the timing. And hey, why not dream of a perfect 17-0 run, right?
In other news, the team is still waiting on Jauan Jennings' contract to be processed by the league office, which means we don't yet know his 2026 cap hit. It's likely there are a couple of void years tucked into the deal, but we'll have to wait and see.
The GM search is also heating up, and while I can't say I have a favorite candidate yet—I haven't done my homework on everyone—it's safe to say I'll probably have opinions on their draft picks down the line. The Vikings have requested an interview with Detroit Lions assistant general manager Ray Agnew, as reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. They've also reached out to Denver Broncos assistant GM Reed Burckhardt and Miami Dolphins assistant GM Kyle Smith.
Chief operating officer Andrew Miller is working with search firm TurnkeyZRG to vet external candidates, and head coach Kevin O'Connell is involved too. Speaking at rookie minicamp, O'Connell made it clear he's ready to help but isn't running the show. "In whatever capacity that ownership and Andrew have for me as their plan, that's what I'm going to do," he said. "Obviously, it's an important time. It's clearly an important hire, but I have so much respect in the process-oriented driven aspect of not only our ownership, but Andrew Miller, that I know we're going to get to that good outcome."
O'Connell and Miller have joined the Wilfs—and some of their adult children—in initial virtual interviews this week. Could more names emerge? Stay tuned, because this offseason is just getting started.
