Diego Milito, a legend at both Inter Milan and Racing Club, has publicly extended an invitation for Lautaro Martínez to one day return to his Argentine roots. Speaking on DAZN, Milito expressed his deep admiration for the current Inter captain, highlighting a bond that stretches back to Lautaro's professional debut at Racing, where he came on as a substitute for Milito himself.

"You could already see he was an extraordinary champion," Milito recalled. "He had everything clear in his mind... He was remarkable." The 2010 treble-winner praised not just Lautaro's on-field prowess but his character off it, noting the striker's humility in regularly visiting and mentoring young players at Racing during trips back to Argentina.

However, Milito was quick to temper any immediate speculation about a transfer. He acknowledged that Lautaro is "happy at Inter and still has many years ahead of him there," firmly in his prime at San Siro. The invitation is one for the future, a sentimental nod to their shared origins. "I would love to bring him home one day," Milito said, "When the time comes, he knows the door at Racing is always open."

In the same interview, Milito also shared his insights on the new generation of coaches emerging from his former Inter squad. He expressed confidence in Cristian Chivu's managerial abilities, a trait he sensed during their playing days alongside other now-managers like Thiago Motta and Dejan Stankovic. "He is doing very well," Milito stated, "you could see it back then."
