AC Milan has reportedly set a €40 million price tag on Christopher Nkunku, signaling the club's readiness to part ways with the French forward after just one underwhelming season at the San Siro.

Signed from Chelsea last summer for €37 million plus bonuses, the 28-year-old has failed to live up to expectations. In 32 competitive appearances, Nkunku managed only six goals and three assists, rarely earning a spot in the starting lineup—even during a striker injury crisis that left Milan scrambling for options up front.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, a recent meeting with Nkunku's agent, Pini Zahavi, confirmed Milan's desire to sell after just one season. The timing is particularly interesting, as the Rossoneri are reportedly eyeing another Zahavi client: Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski. This potential swap in targets suggests Milan is already planning for life after Nkunku.

While Milan ideally wants €40 million to avoid a net loss on the transfer, the club would likely accept around €30 million to recoup their initial investment. Still, the Rossoneri are hoping Nkunku's reputation as a France international—with two goals in 18 senior caps—can attract a higher bid this summer.

For a player who once dazzled in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig, Nkunku's slide at Milan has been a surprise to many. His last appearance for Les Bleus came in November 2025, and a move this summer could be exactly what he needs to reignite his career. Whether that happens at €40 million or a slightly lower price remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Milan is ready to move on.
