Who do you think Mike Macdonald’s pick for most underrated player on the Seattle Seahawks is? Hint: he’s not already a Pro Bowler.

When Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald was asked to name the most underrated player on his roster, he didn't hesitate. And no, it wasn't a Pro Bowler or a first-round pick.

The answer? Jalen Sundell.

In a recent interview with NFL on ESPN, Kevin Clark posed the question to Macdonald, fully expecting a name like Byron Murphy II. Instead, Macdonald went straight to his center. "He's a great center," Macdonald explained. "You need a great center to run our system. No one talks about it."

The timing of this revelation—right after the 2026 Draft—meant it flew under the radar. But that's exactly the point. Sundell embodies what "underrated" truly means.

Let's put this in perspective. Murphy, the Seahawks' 16th overall pick two years ago, is widely regarded as one of the league's best defensive tackles. He earned five All-Pro votes last season, and even Seattle's biggest rival, the Los Angeles Rams, reportedly tried to trade ahead of the Seahawks to snag him. The secret is out on Murphy—he's well on his way to being properly rated.

Sundell, on the other hand, is the stock that hasn't blown up yet but already holds immense value. Undrafted out of North Dakota State just a year ago, he became the starting center for the Super Bowl champions. He plays one of the least flashy positions in all of sports, where the highest praise is often that you rarely hear his name called.

While first-round pick Grey Zabel may have walked into the spotlight, Sundell paved the way—quietly, consistently, and without fanfare. And that's exactly why Macdonald calls him the most underrated player on the team.
