FC Bayern vs. PSG is upon us.

The stage is set for a blockbuster Champions League showdown as Bayern Munich prepare to host Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie. After a wild first leg that saw the German giants fall 5-4 in Paris, all eyes are on the Allianz Arena to see if Bayern can pull off another comeback.

Bayern Munich supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß, a man who has seen it all in European football—from the glory of lifting the Champions League trophy to the heartbreak of unexpected exits—isn't panicking. In fact, he's full of confidence in head coach Vincent Kompany and the squad's fighting spirit.

"You have to admire Vincent Kompany for having his team play so offensively in Paris – it was incredible," Hoeneß told DAZN. "A turning point was the unfortunate handball penalty situation just before halftime. Something like that is brutal – you go into the dressing room with a negative feeling, while the opponent comes back motivated."

But what impressed Hoeneß most was the team's resilience. "The way the team reacted – as they have so often before, for example in Freiburg, in Mainz, or even to some extent recently against Heidenheim – the way they came back, continued playing, and didn't give up, that's truly phenomenal."

In a quirky twist, Hoeneß revealed he didn't travel to Paris for the first leg due to superstition. "I actually wanted to fly to Paris, but Karl-Heinz (Rummenigge) and I haven't been to any away games so far. And then our guys said: 'If you fly with us now and we lose badly, that would be bad.' So I didn't want to be a jinx," he explained.

Even as a veteran executive, Hoeneß admitted he got caught up in the drama like any fan. "You have to differentiate between the Bayern fan and the neutral spectator. As a Bayern fan, you think: Wow, so many goals conceded, can we even pull it off? As a neutral spectator in Seoul, New York, or Milan, you think: What's going on here? That was great advertisement for football as a whole."

With Bayern's never-say-die attitude and Kompany's bold tactics, Tuesday's second leg promises to be a thriller. Will the Bavarians complete the comeback and advance? One thing is certain: expect more drama, more passion, and a whole lot of heart from a team that refuses to back down.
