The Midland High Lady Dawgs are back on top! For the first time in five years, the softball team has clinched the District 2-6A championship, sealing the title with a commanding 10-1 victory over Frenship on their home field.

This was a statement win defined by a single explosive inning. The Lady Dawgs' offense erupted in the third, plating seven runs to break the game wide open. Meanwhile, the defense was nearly impenetrable, allowing just one run on three hits all night. Pitcher Malyah Carrillo, a Western Texas commit, was brilliant in the circle, tossing a complete game and racking up six strikeouts.

The victory extends Midland's incredible run to 16 consecutive wins. Their stellar record now stands at an impressive 30-3 overall and a perfect 8-0 in district play. The team will look to carry this championship momentum into the regular-season finale this Friday on the road against Odessa.

After a five-year wait, the district trophy is returning to Midland, a testament to the team's hard work and dominant season. Congratulations to the Lady Dawgs on a fantastic achievement!
