After two and a half memorable seasons in East London, West Ham United midfielder Katrina Gorry is set to depart the club when her contract expires this summer.
The 33-year-old Australian international joined the Hammers in January 2024 and quickly became a fan favorite, making over 50 appearances across all competitions. Her leadership on the pitch helped keep West Ham competitive in the demanding Barclays Women's Super League, where every point is hard-earned.
With her contract ending next month, Gorry has decided to take on a new challenge. The news was confirmed by the club this morning, making her the first confirmed departure of the summer window.
Reflecting on her time at West Ham, Gorry shared an emotional farewell: "It's an emotional time to be leaving West Ham United, but I know this is the right decision for me and my family. I've enjoyed so many incredible moments over the last two-and-a-half years, and captaining this team has been the greatest honor."
She added, "West Ham is a special club with an incredible fanbase that always shows up. The fans have seen so much growth—in us as players, as a team, and as a club—and I'm proud to have been part of that journey."
Gorry's move to West Ham came with a unique personal story: she arrived with a two-year-old daughter and now leaves East London with a growing family, including her son. "I came here with a two-year-old daughter and I'm leaving East London with an even bigger family—not just my son, but the West Ham family too: the fans, the staff and everyone connected to the club," she said.
As she prepares for her next chapter, Gorry summed up her legacy at West Ham: "I leave a better person and a better player, and for that I'll always be grateful."
