Big news could be brewing in the wrestling world: WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley may be headed to AEW. With his WWE Legends deal set to expire next month, reports indicate that All Elite Wrestling has shown "real" interest in working with the legendary hardcore icon.
According to multiple sources speaking to The Takedown on SI, AEW is exploring potential involvement with Foley, though the scope remains unclear—whether it would be a full signing or a one-time appearance. While no direct knowledge of Foley appearing at AEW's upcoming pay-per-view, Double or Nothing, has been confirmed, one source noted they "would not be surprised" if the company pushes for his involvement, provided a deal can be finalized.
The timing couldn't be more fitting. Double or Nothing is scheduled for Flushing, New York—just an hour from Foley's hometown on Long Island. The event already boasts a high-stakes main event, with MJF putting his hair on the line against Darby Allin for the AEW World Championship. Foley's potential appearance would add an extra layer of hometown nostalgia and star power.
Foley announced earlier this year that he would let his WWE Legends deal expire in June, citing opposition to WWE and TKO's ties with the current administration. While Legends contracts don't prevent talent from working with other companies, they do restrict royalties, merchandising, and use of their likeness—restrictions that would no longer apply after June.
At 60 years old, Foley hasn't stepped inside the ring since 2012, but he's remained active on the independent scene through appearances. Most recently, he showed up for The Sandman's retirement match in GCW during WrestleMania week in Las Vegas. His last WWE on-camera role came in 2023, when he announced qualifier candidates for the Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline. Before that, he served as Monday Night Raw general manager from 2016 to early 2017.
A three-time WWF Champion and 2013 WWE Hall of Fame inductee, Foley has worked across promotions including WWE, WCW, ECW, TNA, and Japan throughout his legendary career. AEW already has several wrestling icons under contract, and Foley could be the latest to join their ranks—potentially making his debut at a show that hits close to home.
