Gardner, a former standout at Detroit's famed Cass Tech, brings valuable experience and a final year of eligibility to East Lansing. His journey has seen him develop at Kent State and, most recently, Jackson State, where he posted a solid 2024 season with 32 receptions for 483 yards and two touchdowns.

What makes this addition particularly intriguing for Spartan fans is Gardner's connection to the current roster. He was a teammate of MSU receiver Chrishon McCray during his redshirt freshman year at Kent State, which could help speed up his integration into the offense. Standing at 6-foot and 186 pounds, Gardner provides a reliable target who didn't even start playing football until high school but quickly developed into a three-star recruit.
