A night game in late November at Spartan Stadium? That’s what it looks like for Michigan State football as Fox released its Friday night schedule.

Michigan State football is turning up the heat on Friday nights—literally and figuratively. Fox has released its 2026 Friday night schedule, and the Spartans are set to host two marquee matchups under the lights at Spartan Stadium.

The biggest headline? Oregon will make its first trip to East Lansing as a Big Ten member on Friday, Nov. 20. The Ducks haven't visited Spartan Stadium since 2015, when Michigan State pulled off a thrilling 31-28 win. That September clash was mild and dry, but a late-November showdown brings a whole new set of challenges—freezing temperatures, biting winds, and potentially even snow. For context, MSU's 2022 home finale against Indiana saw temps in the mid-20s with gusts up to 40 mph, forcing the closure of the east side upper deck due to frozen pipes. Only a fraction of the announced 56,136 fans stuck around for the overtime loss.

But before the Spartans brace for winter, they'll kick off the season in style. The season opener against Toledo has been moved to Friday, Sept. 4, continuing a beloved Labor Day weekend tradition that dates back to 2011. It's a perfect opportunity for fans to break out their new gear and welcome head coach Pat Fitzgerald for his debut in green and white.

This scheduling shift also continues a recent trend of moving late-season home games to more favorable conditions. MSU relocated 2023's Penn State game and 2025's Maryland clash to Ford Field in Detroit, citing weather concerns. However, the Spartans played three November home games in 2024, including the final two against Purdue and Rutgers, proving they're not afraid to embrace the elements.

Whether you're bundling up for a frosty night against Oregon or soaking in the early-season warmth against Toledo, these Friday night lights promise to deliver unforgettable moments. Mark your calendars and gear up—Michigan State football is ready to put on a show.
