Michigan State football is making moves on the recruiting trail, extending an offer to a promising linebacker from Georgia with a growing list of power conference suitors.

CJ Ohuabunwa, a 6-foot-2 standout from Norcross, Ga., announced the Spartans' offer last week on his personal X account. The three-star prospect brings versatility and athleticism to the linebacker position, with a Rivals industry rating of 82.67 that places him as the No. 109 linebacker and No. 124 player from Georgia in the 2027 class.

This offer adds Michigan State to an already crowded recruitment list. According to 247Sports, Ohuabunwa holds offers from 25 programs, including Duke, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kansas, Louisville, UCF, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, East Carolina, South Florida, Liberty, Tulane, and UNLV. That kind of widespread interest signals a player who could be on the verge of a breakout.

For the Spartans, landing a linebacker from Georgia—a state known for producing elite defensive talent—would be a significant recruiting win. As the program continues to build momentum under head coach Jonathan Smith, adding players like Ohuabunwa could help solidify the defense for years to come.

For now, Ohuabunwa's recruitment remains wide open, but Michigan State's offer puts them squarely in the mix for this versatile linebacker prospect.
