The Michigan high school girls basketball season has crowned its early stars, with the Michigan Sports Writers Association releasing its first all-state list for the 2025-26 campaign. The spotlight shines brightly on Division 4, where a standout player from the Upper Peninsula has cemented her legacy.

Jenessa Eagle of Ishpeming High School wasn't always a statewide household name, but her phenomenal senior season changed everything. Leading the Hematites on a dominant run to the Division 4 state championship, Eagle ensured her team—and her talent—could not be overlooked. The season culminated in a decisive 48-28 victory over Portland St. Patrick at the Breslin Center, a 20-point statement win that capped an incredible journey.

For her efforts, Eagle has been named the Division 4 Player of the Year. The 5-foot-9 guard, who is signed to continue her career at Michigan Tech University, posted impressive averages of 24.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. Her leadership was instrumental in bringing the state title back to Ishpeming.

The honors didn't stop with Eagle. Her coach, Ryan Reichel, was named the Division 4 Coach of the Year for masterminding the championship season. Furthermore, teammate Mya Hemmer earned a well-deserved spot on the Division 4 First Team, highlighting the collective strength of the Hematites' program.

This announcement marks just the beginning of the all-state recognitions. Stay tuned as the Michigan Sports Writers Association releases the honorees for the remaining divisions throughout the week, celebrating the exceptional talent and hard work defining this season of Michigan high school basketball.
