Dami Sowunmi, a three-star prospect from Brownsburg High School in Indiana, left Ann Arbor last weekend with the Wolverines firmly planted at the top of his list.

For Sowunmi, his first-ever visit to Michigan was nothing short of spectacular. "My visit to Michigan was amazing," he shared. "The experience was great, especially getting to see the new coaching staff and getting to grow my relationship with the new DL coach." The 6-foot-4, 260-pound lineman spent a Saturday immersed in the program, observing practice and building connections with defensive line coaches Larry Black and David Denham.

The visit clearly made a strong impression on the young star. After watching the defensive line in action, Sowunmi could see himself fitting right into their formidable front. "The Michigan D-line is definitely battle-tested and dominant," he noted. "Their ability to create and close space on the O-line and cause havoc on the line is insane." He praised his growing relationships with the coaches, calling them "some of the best coaches in the country" who "really care deeply about their players."

The effort to make him feel welcome extended to the top, as head coach Kyle Whittingham also left a significant mark. Sowunmi expressed confidence in the new leader, stating, "What he was able to do at Utah and now bring it over to Michigan, I believe he is going to change the program for the better."

While Sowunmi has official visits scheduled to Cincinnati and Missouri in June, the Wolverines have successfully positioned themselves as a premier destination. The staff is actively working to lock in an official visit to Ann Arbor, where Sowunmi hopes to experience daily life as a Michigan athlete. His closing sentiment leaves little doubt about Michigan's standing: "I feel really strong about Michigan. They are definitely at the top of my list and will be a top option for my commitment day." For a program known for its trench dominance, securing an early lead for a talent like Sowunmi is a promising sign for the future of the Big House defense.
