The Michigan football pass receivers are in much better shape than they were a year ago, a credit to both the program's recruiting as well as what new head coach Kyle Whittingham was able to do in the offseason. With Andrew Marsh returning as the No. 1 receiver, there are other options who are expected to bolster him, many of them newcomers.
Last week, before the spring game, tight end Hogan Hansen (who figures to be pivotal in the pass game) shared his thoughts on those expected to go out and make tough catches. And he's overall pleased with what the maize and blue have now at their disposal.
"Yeah, I'd just say playmakers all around," Hansen said. "Ffrench, I mean, Marsh, doing what Marsh does, building off last year. But the new guys, Ffrench and JJ, just coming in, making plays. Salesi Moa, a freshman, and Travis Johnson. I think we've got a lot of depth in terms of playmakers and people that can go stretch the field."

Moa and Ffrench, playing on opposite teams, both had four catches for 26 yards, each with copious yards after the catch. We didn't get to see much of Andrew Marsh or JJ Buchanan (Marsh had two targets and no catches, Buchanan had one), nor was Travis Johnson a factor, other than one run for four yards.
But given the different skills of each of the receivers, Hansen likes the variety that the Wolverines have, and how much each can contribute.
"Yeah, I'd say there's definitely—Marsh has a different skill set than JJ," Hansen said. "Salesi has a different skill set than Marsh, things like that. But I mean, I think they fit. They just continually make plays."
Now that spring ball is over, the Wolverines will be off until June, when they'll report for summer conditioning.
