Michigan basketball is doubling down on high-stakes non-conference scheduling, announcing a new home-and-home series with Marquette set to tip off next season. While many programs are moving away from these traditional home-and-home matchups, the Wolverines are leaning in, adding another premier opponent to their calendar.

The series will begin at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor on November 11, with the return game at Milwaukee's Fiserv Forum scheduled for the 2025-26 season. This marks the first meeting between the two programs since the 2016-17 season, when Michigan defeated Marquette at Madison Square Garden on its way to winning the 2K Classic. The Wolverines hold a commanding 14-6 lead in the all-time series.

For Marquette, the matchup offers a chance at a statement win in what was a challenging season. Under head coach Shaka Smart, the Golden Eagles finished 12-20 last year, missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time in his tenure. A strong showing against a Big Ten power like Michigan would be a major momentum builder.

This series is just one piece of Michigan's ambitious scheduling puzzle under first-year head coach Dusty May. The Wolverines are also set to visit Villanova next season and will return to defend their title in the Players Era tournament. May has emphasized a "big-game hunting" philosophy, telling CBS Sports, "I think our fans, our alums, everyone deserves to see us play the best competition night in, night out that we can."

This commitment to a tough schedule not only excites the fanbase but also prepares the team for the rigors of March. For fans looking to represent their team during these marquee matchups, whether at Crisler Center or on the road, the right gear can make all the difference in showing your support.
