The maize and blue confetti has settled, but the celebration for the Michigan Wolverines' historic national championship is just getting started. For the first time since 1989, the men's basketball program has claimed the ultimate prize, and the University of Michigan is planning a victory celebration worthy of the moment.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 11th. The festivities will kick off with a classic victory parade through the heart of the Ann Arbor campus, a perfect opportunity for fans to line the streets and cheer on their champions. The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., starting at the President’s House on South University Avenue and winding its way down State Street before concluding at Yost Ice Arena.
For the best view, fans are encouraged to gather along South University near the starting point, west of the Student Union, and along the stretch of State Street leading to Yost. Be sure to plan ahead, as streets along the route will close at 8 a.m. Parking will be available in campus structures, with specific recommendations for those on Forest Avenue and Maynard, Thayer, and Thompson streets.
Following the parade, the party moves indoors for a special ticketed celebration at Crisler Center, beginning at 1 p.m. This is your chance to see the team up close and relive the championship glory. Doors will open at noon for the event, which is located next to the iconic Michigan Stadium.
Tickets for the Crisler Center celebration will be available in tiers. Student tickets are priced at $20 for access to the famed Maize Rage section, while reserved seats in the lower bowl are $75. The Michigan Athletic Ticket Office will begin offering tickets via email to eligible students, season ticket holders, and key donors starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 9th. Any remaining tickets will be released to the general public at 5 p.m. that same day.
It’s time to wear your pride. As the Wolverines prepare to parade their hard-earned trophy through Ann Arbor, it's the perfect moment to gear up in your finest Michigan apparel and join a community celebration decades in the making.
