Michigan's Big Ten opponents have been announced for the Wolverines' title defense season.

The countdown to title defense season is officially on. Michigan basketball now knows exactly which Big Ten opponents stand between them and another championship run, even if the exact tip-off times are still TBD.

The Big Ten has unveiled its 2026-27 league matchups, and for the defending conference and national champions, the road to repeat is already taking shape. Three teams will face the Wolverines twice this season, headlined by two of the biggest rivalries in college basketball. Michigan State and Ohio State remain protected rivals, meaning the battles for in-state and conference supremacy will happen both in Ann Arbor and on the road. The third team on the double-play list is Minnesota, rounding out a trio that promises plenty of intensity.

Perhaps the most intriguing storyline? Michigan’s West Coast swing. The Wolverines will head to Southern California to take on USC and UCLA, looking to extend their perfect 4-0 record against the Big Ten’s newest members. With a flawless road record last season, this trip could be another statement moment.

The travel itinerary also includes a return to Bloomington, where head coach Dusty May will face his alma mater, Indiana. Additional road tests await at Penn State, Rutgers, Nebraska, and Wisconsin—the only Big Ten team to hand Michigan a loss last season.

Back at Crisler Center, the home slate is loaded. Beyond the rivalry games with Michigan State, Ohio State, and Minnesota, fans can look forward to hosting Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Northwestern, Oregon, Purdue, and Northwestern again. Michigan swept all 12 home games against these teams in 2025-26, and they’ll be aiming for another perfect home stand.

Let’s put that historic season in perspective. Michigan went 19-1 in Big Ten play, winning the conference by a staggering four games. Even more impressive? A perfect 10-0 record on the road—the first Big Ten team to go unbeaten away from home since Indiana in 1975-76. Both teams went on to win the national championship, and the Wolverines are hoping history repeats itself.

Whether you’re repping maize and blue at Crisler or catching the action from the West Coast, this season is shaping up to be another unforgettable ride. Gear up early—title defenses don’t happen every day.
