Michigan's rising star quarterback Bryce Underwood is already making headlines this offseason—and he's doing it alongside one of the NFL's elite. The Wolverines signal-caller recently shared an Instagram story showing him training with none other than Cincinnati Bengals superstar Joe Burrow, under the guidance of renowned QB coach Jordan Palmer.
For Underwood, this isn't just a photo op. It's a statement. Heading into a pivotal sophomore season under new head coach Kyle Whittingham, the young quarterback is leaving no stone unturned in his quest to improve. After a challenging freshman campaign that didn't meet expectations, Underwood has been putting in serious work—both with his longtime mentor Donovan Dooley in Detroit and now with Palmer's elite program.
Coach Whittingham couldn't be more confident in his quarterback's approach. "Bryce, he's got a great work ethic. There's no worry about him putting in the time," Whittingham said on "The Blueprint" podcast. "He's completely dedicated to his craft."
The Wolverines' coaching staff saw tangible growth from Underwood during Michigan's 15 spring practices in March and April, even if the spring game stats (3-of-9 for 22 yards) didn't tell the full story. Whittingham emphasized that the summer months will be crucial, noting the team now has a much clearer picture of what suits Underwood best. "We got a really good, much better, clear picture through spring about what he does well," Whittingham added. "We'll start to gravitate towards that as we move closer to the season."
Training with a Super Bowl-winning quarterback like Burrow is exactly the kind of move that signals Underwood's commitment to reaching his potential. For Michigan fans, seeing their young QB soak up knowledge from one of the game's best is a promising sign that brighter days are ahead in Ann Arbor.
