Michelle Wie West is back in the spotlight, and she's doing it with a wink and a smile. The 36-year-old golf icon is set to compete this week at the Mizuho Americas Open—the very event she hosts—and she's joking that she feels like "an undercover employee" sneaking inside the ropes.

This marks Wie West's first competitive round since her emotional farewell at the 2023 U.S. Women's Open at Pebble Beach. She'll tee off at 7:37 a.m. ET on Thursday alongside two-time major champion Lilia Vu and LPGA rookie Yana Wilson, who won the inaugural AJGA portion of this event.

What makes this tournament truly special is its unique format: pros and juniors play side-by-side in concurrent events at Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, New Jersey. And Wie West is at the heart of it all—not just as a competitor, but as a mentor.

"I want to make sure that juniors in the field come here, and a lot of times this is their first LPGA event," Wie West said. "I want their standards to be up where it should be."

Her impact on the next generation is undeniable. Megan Khang was just 14 when she played a practice round with Wie West at the 2012 U.S. Women's Open. Andrea Lee was 15 when she joined Wie West at Pinehurst No. 2. "She won that week, which was insane," Lee recalled. "So many people were following us, even in the practice round, so I was very nervous, but it was a very eye-opening experience."

Albane Valenzuela recently discovered a photo of herself as a 7-year-old with Wie West at Evian. "I think what she's doing right now is very inspirational," Valenzuela said. "Just balancing everything, being a mom, entrepreneur, on tour—it's something we can all look up to."

Wie West's hands-on approach extends to every detail of the player experience. Thanks to sponsors Mizuho and Ford, players receive free rooms and transportation this week. Gifts include $250 gift cards to Delta and Starbucks—small touches that reflect Wie West's commitment to raising the bar.

This is the first of just two events on Wie West's 2026 LPGA schedule, making it a must-watch for fans who've followed her remarkable journey from teenage prodigy to major champion to tournament host and mentor.
