The Kenton Ridge High School softball team is once again proving why they're the team to beat in Ohio. The defending state champion Cougars (23-0) have extended their remarkable 55-game winning streak—the third-longest in state history—earning them the No. 1 spot in the fourth Ohio High School Softball Coaches Poll, released Monday, May 4. This marks their ninth consecutive week atop the Division IV rankings, a reign that stretches back to last season.

But the Cougars' dominance isn't just a local story. Kenton Ridge is also making waves nationally, coming in at No. 16 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll and No. 12 in the MaxPreps Top 25. It's a testament to their relentless drive and the depth of talent on this squad.

Across the divisions, the competition is heating up. In Division I, Lakota East (18-4) holds strong at No. 3, while Centerville (18-6) slides into No. 5, just two spots ahead of No. 7 Lebanon (16-8). These teams are battling for supremacy in a stacked field.

Division III features a standout performance from Greenville (22-1), which earned the No. 2 ranking and a first-place vote after a dominant week. The Green Wave swept previously unbeaten Troy in Miami Valley League Miami Division play, with commanding 5-0 and 6-0 victories on Friday, May 1, and Monday, May 4. Oxford Talawanda (17-4) also makes the list at No. 8.

In Division V, Springfield Shawnee (22-2) is making a strong push at No. 2, also earning a first-place vote, while Miami East (17-4) holds steady at No. 4. Defending Division VI state champion Tri-Village is right behind at No. 2 with a first-place vote of its own, though Midwest Athletic Conference power Parkway remains No. 1. Marion Local rounds out the division at No. 9.

Finally, in Division VII, South Charleston Southeastern (20-3) checks in at No. 7. The Trojans had an impressive 18-game winning streak before falling 1-0 to Division VI No. 5 West Jefferson (16-4) on Monday, May 4—a reminder that in high school softball, every game counts.
