Michael Carrick has called Manchester United's goalless draw against Sunderland a "good point" after a tense afternoon at the Stadium of Light, even as their three-game winning streak came to an end. The Red Devils boss acknowledged the tough challenge posed by the Black Cats, who have built a formidable home record this season, and praised his team's resilience in a match that could have gone either way.

United were forced to rely on goalkeeper Senne Lammens and the woodwork to escape with a point after a lackluster display. Lammens was the hero of the hour, producing a sharp early save to deny Noah Sadiki, who had sprinted clear, and later pulling off another crucial stop to keep out Brian Brobbey. Brobbey, a persistent threat to the visitors' defense, also set up Lutsharel Geertruida for a late chance, only for the substitute to see his effort crash against the post. In the end, both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Speaking to Premier League Productions after the final whistle, Carrick emphasized the difficulty of the fixture. "It's a tough place to come. They've had a good record here all season. We'll take the point, a clean sheet is always good to get," he said. "We've scored a lot of goals this season, it's just one of those games. A decent enough point and we nearly won it at the end."

The United manager also addressed the impact of five changes to the starting XI, including returns for Joshua Zirkzee, Mason Mount, Noussair Mazraoui, Lisandro Martinez, and Amad. "It's one game. It's the time of the season. We've done a lot of good work and some changes today, and I thought the attitude of the boys was really good," Carrick explained. "Today is a positive result in terms of the point. Was it going to be a perfect game? We weren't expecting a perfect game. It is what it is. It's not something we need to overthink, and it's hard to be negative."

Carrick was quick to defend his rotated squad, adding, "They're not on trial. As a team we could have been a bit better, but we know what the boys can do. Everyone has contributed in such a good way. I'm pleased with the overall performance in terms of effort and commitment, even if the football wasn't always pretty." For United fans, this gritty point on the road might not be the most thrilling result, but it's a reminder that even on an off day, this team can dig deep and keep their momentum alive.
